Ayurvedic Detox Routine: Stage 3 — Burn And Eliminate Toxins

How to detox better, simply. Part Three.

A simple four-stage detox routine inspired by modern Ayurveda (Part 3)

In the previous article we looked at Stage 2: releasing stored toxins.

By this point the body has usually begun to loosen substances that have accumulated over time through stress, diet, alcohol, pollution and the general pace of modern life.

Stage 3 focuses on the next step: helping the body process and eliminate these toxins efficiently.

Once toxins are mobilised, the body must break them down and move them out through its natural detox systems: the liver, digestive tract, kidneys, skin and lymphatic system.

The goal is still not extreme cleansing. It is simply to support the body while it does the work it is designed to do.

Stage 3: Burn and Eliminate Toxins

During this stage the body’s metabolism and detox pathways become more active.

You may notice positive changes such as:

  • lighter digestion

  • improved energy

  • clearer thinking

  • gradual weight loss

Many people also feel a sense of increased mental clarity during this stage as the body settles into a healthier rhythm.

The daily routine remains very similar to the earlier stages.

Morning

Begin the day with warm water and lemon and your digestive herbal detox tea.

Continue the fresh vegetable juice if you have introduced it. The vitamins, minerals and plant compounds help support the liver and cellular repair.

Gentle movement remains important. A short walk, stretching or light yoga encourages circulation and helps the body move waste products out through the lymphatic system.

Dry brushing can also continue as part of the routine.

During the day

Eat simple, nourishing meals that are easy to digest.

Kitcheri remains an excellent choice during this stage because it supports digestion without placing a heavy burden on the body.

Drink plenty of water and herbal tea. Many people continue including a nourishing broth during this stage to provide minerals and support gut health.

Evening

Continue any herbal supplements you have introduced, such as Ashwagandha, Brahmi and Triphala, if they suit you.

Evenings should remain calm and restorative. Sleep is one of the body’s most powerful tools for repair and detoxification. So, best avoid screens and bright lighting or stimulating movies. Instead, light a candle, burn some incense, enjoy a bath or shower and spoil yourself by massaging some high quality moisteriser into your skin  all while with some gentle spa music in the background.

Stage 3 usually lasts another one to two weeks. During this time the body continues to process and eliminate toxins that have been released in the earlier stages.

In the final article we will look at Stage 4: stabilising a healthier metabolism and creating habits that prevent toxins from building up again.

Small choices. Better days. Simply better living.
