Starting your day well

Either you run the day, or the day runs you.

When you wake up in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive — to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. The more grateful we are, the more beauty we see.

Here is my favourite selection of tips for starting your day well, no matter what your current life situation.

1. Wake up with gratitude in your heart. The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.

2. Rinse your face with water and gently dab around your eyes with rose water.

3. Drink a glass of warm water with fresh lemon juice.

4. Pull oil, scrape your tongue and clean your teeth.

 5. Use the bathroom, if you're ready.

6. Prayer / yoga / meditation.

7. Shower.

8. Eat a healthy breakfast.

Only then — this tip is for power users only! — check your phone or computer.

It's well-known fact that starting the day well almost always leads to a better experience, even when, or especially when unexpected challenges and disappointments arise. By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail. So the best preparation always involves a simple morning routine that nourishes mind, body and soul.

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.”   — Stephen R. Covey
