Brew Better = Live Better

Grounds for Happiness. From Bean to Bliss.  As Jesse Adams said,
“Coffee smells like freshly ground heaven.”

This is my essential guide to great coffee for kick-starting your day.

There are so many so-called expert opinions and conspiracy theories about drinking coffee. Even decaf can apparently be unhealthy for you due to the processes involved in removing the caffeine from the beans. It's easy to get lost in the polemic.

My take? Like many things in life. It's good for you in moderation and tastes and smells amazing. Even Ayurveda doesn't object to fresh coffee. Simply. Better. Living.

In 2022, I invested in a DeLonghi La Specialista Maestro and have never looked back. From espresso to latte macchiato, it never disappoints. This is admittedly the expensive, flagship model, but there are many others from DeLonghi that will keep you more than happy. And when a good cappuccino now costs 5 EUR in a café, you will save money over time.

My recommended coffee is undoubtedly Lavazza Espresso Cremoso even though it's sadly not organic or Fair Trade. If that matters to you, you will need to look elsewhere and experiment.

As you can see from this short video, the machine is super easy to use and produces a perfect crema every time. You may need to play with the settings a little (grinder level, amount of coffee, water temperature) and you should maintain it well so that it lasts at least a decade or so.

So, relax and enjoy, savour and live simply better, both at home and at work. Science will never come up with a better office communication system than the coffee break.

“What on earth could be more luxurious than a sofa, a book, and a cup of coffee?”    — Anthony Trollope
